Today let’s talk about the chakras.
What’s that?
Chakras are said to be little spinning energy centres/wheels that go throughout our body from the bottom to the top.
There are 7 chakras. Some people say that the modern chakras theory embraces 9, but let’s go with 7 chakras.
Each chakra has a certain colour that associated with it, and a certain meaning or quality that it enhances or activates or rules.
If we started at the bottom along the groin area, the first chakra is called the root chakra. Its colour is red. It rules power & grounding energy.
The cleansing/purifying/balancing bija mantra sound that is associated with the root chakra is LAM.
The next Chakra up just beneath the navel is called the sacral Chakra. Its colour is orange and it symbolises creativity.
The cleansing/purifying/balancing bija mantra sound that is associated with the sacral chakra is VAM.
The next Chakra up, above the navel below the heart, is called the solar plexus chakra. Its colour is yellow and it symbolises the intellect.
The cleansing/purifying/balancing bija mantra sound that is associated with the solar plexus chakra is RAM.
Following from that we have the heart chakra which is green though some people embrace the colour pink. The heart chakra is love and connection.
The cleansing/purifying/balancing bija mantra sound that is associated with the heart Chakra is YAM.
Next up we have the throat Chakra. Its colour is blue, turquoise blue. Its power is communication.
The cleansing/purifying/balancing bija mantra sound that is associated with the throat Chakra is HAM.
In the middle of our forehead just between our eyebrows and above our eyebrows, is the third eye. Its colour is indigo, a very very deep blue. Its quality is perception & spirituality.
The cleansing/purifying/balancing bija mantra sound that is associated with the third eye is OM.
Just above our heads is the Crown chakra.
Its colour is violet. It’s for intuition awareness and being.
The cleansing/purifying/balancing bija mantra sound that is associated with the Crown Chakra is also OM.

And there we have a brief explanation of our wonderful chakras and all the good things that they can bring us.
Sometimes we can meditate on one of the chakras or meditate on all the chakras and think about the qualities associated with that chakra and try to bring those positive qualities into our awareness.
Using the chakras, the energy, the feeling is another way of helping us to visualise good positive energy and bring it into our bodies, and our minds and our hearts.
Give it try! Sit in silence or with some nice quiet music and just relax and visualise the colours and qualities and sounds, and see what feelings come up.
You might get nothing, or you might just feel at peace, or energised, or you might get some ideas about something that has been in your mind that you’ve been trying to think of … and just the act of relaxation opened the door, and the idea, the solution the thought came through.
It’s something to think about and try, isn’t it?
And here’s a little behind the scenes video of me repairing one of my favourite Chakra necklaces which broke, and which I re-strung, reactivated and repaired because it is bad feng shui to have broken jewelry lying around, and because I missed wearing it.
